What is the substance used for?

FOR LIMESCALE DEPOSITS ON SINK UNITS, BAIN MARIES AND FOR THE REMOVAL OF SCALE ON FLOOR SURFACES.


What are the hazardous ingredients/chemicals in the substance?

A 23% AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF ORTHOPHOSPHORIC ACID.

USED DAILY, APPROXIMATELY 2 LITRES PER OPERATIVE


Who is exposed to the substance?

KITCHEN DEEP CLEANING AND VENTILATION CLEANING OPERATIVES


Does the substance present additional risks to certain groups or individuals?

NO

OTHER PRECAUTIONS AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Spillages: How should an accidental release/spillage of this substance be dealt with?

LARGE SPILLS: ABSORN IN VERMICULITE, DRY SAND AND DISPOSED OF CAREFULLY.WASH SMALL SPILLS TO DRAIN.

TEAM MUST WEAR ALL APRIOPRIATE PPE LISTED UNDER THE CONTROL MEASURES SECTION OF THIS ASSESSMENT WHEN DEALING WITH ANY SPILLAGES.


First aid: What actions should be taken if the substance is:

a) Swallowed?

IRRITATION OF GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER OR MILK AND SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE.

b) In contact with eyes?

WASH WELL WITH FRESH WATER FOR 10 MINUTES AND SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE IF DISCOMFORT PERSISTS.

c) In contact with skin?

IRRITATION, SENSITISATION, WASH OFF WITH CLEAN WATER.

d) Inhaled?

NOT APPLICABLE. VERY LOW ODOUR.

NON-FLAMMABLE

VIA AN AUTHORISED WASTE DISPOSAL CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL REGULATIONS.

REGULAR GENERAL SURVEILLANCE IS REQUIRED
